Taking a step forward
Over a year ago, I made a drastic decision to make a cultural change in my business after a few years of working for some ill-matched clients. I had to take extreme measures, and I "FIRED" all our clients and subs at once. It left me with zero billable hours for a few months. It was scary, but a significant weight and stress came off my shoulders.
Since I decided to become a tad bit more cheeky and put a few policies in place to never let a customer take over the wheel, I turned my business into the way l lived my life. I re-branded my company into a lifestyle brand for creatives, companies, and brands across the globe that shared my business ethics. My web consultancy is small but w/big attitudes and served with a smile.
I even had to change my entire process, learn new techniques. Since that decision to become more than just an indifferent (commodity) designer, my business has drawn in more six-figure projects and like-minded clients. I have been partying ever since.
Don't accept the norm or be complacent. It's your business grow it your way, and don't let anyone do it for you!
